For those of you fortunate enough to have seen him perform, we don’t have to tell you the circus sideshow brilliance of Squiding Brother and Carnivolution MC Jellyboy the Clown. The sword swallowing, fire breathing, flesh hook hanging geek, performer, musician and writer has been a leader in the underground movement and a true pioneer in bringing back the tradition of the circus sideshow.
On Saturday July 2nd, Eric Broomfield, the revolutionary performer behind evil clown face, was involved in an apartment fire in Queens after performing as a sword swallower at New York City’s Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum. He and good friend, Brian Levinson, were dragged to safety by the New York Fire Department, after Eric was found in the bathroom where he had tried to escape the 4:00am fire, and was lying unconscious from smoke inhalation. His condition is listed as critical but stable, and he suffered severe burns on 15% percent of his body, including his head, face and hands and is currently dependent on a respirator due to serious damage to his lungs.
Like too many of our country’s artists and ground breaking performers, our fellow Philadelphian brother who has dedicated his life to bringing joy and awe to audiences worldwide, currently struggles for life with no health insurance. He needs your help. Please click here to donate, and we’ll try to keep you updated with any benefit performances we come across.
